About The Position

Desirable Qualifications Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom; Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes; Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; A CPR Instructor’s Certificate; An Audiometric Certificate; General nursing experience; Public health, school nurse/college nurse, occupational health nurse experience; Ability to work in an independent health setting with a comprehensive team; Ability to maintain confidential records; Computer skills in maintenance of health information and data collection; Ability to maintain a close liaison with students, staff, and local medical providers; Ability to write nursing protocols; Experience working with a diverse student population; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff in written and oral form; Related work and professional experience; Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth; and Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals. Minimum Qualifications All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice; AND Master’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate; OR Bachelor’s in nursing AND a California Public Health Nurse certificate AND a master’s in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health.

Requirements

  • All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice
  • Master’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate
  • Bachelor’s in nursing AND a California Public Health Nurse certificate AND a master’s in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health
