There are multiple positions available for this opportunity. This is a full-time summer internship position. These positions will contribute to projects and activities occurring under the scope and direction of the Aviation Operations department of a large-hub airport operated by/within a major Pacific coastal Port. Aviation Operations is responsible for the Airport's business continuity 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. Safety Management Systems: The intern will be supporting the Safety Management Systems (SMS) department in collecting and analyzing data, and decision making based on this safety data. This position works in conjunction with department experts and stakeholders from multiple disciplines, including those managing Aviation Operations’ Landside and Airfield Departments. Some of your essential duties include: Collect information and data on the airfield and through communication with airfield stakeholders, synthesize results, enter data, communicate with stakeholders in person and in writing, and create related reports. Benchmark, data collection, and analysis for the SMS Program, Wildlife Mitigation Program, Federal Inspections Services program, and for common-use resources. Field work, including observation of airfield activities to measure conformity with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Interns will spend time learning how safety data is applied to proactive and predictive interventions through analyzing trends and other historical data. Interns will have the opportunity to attend Sea-Tac business planning functions, intern luncheons, and various topical meetings to further their understanding of airport management. Assist the SMS team in supporting team operations and respective projects/programs. Operations Project Development: At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Landside Project Development plays a critical role in planning, analyzing, and advancing initiatives that improve ground access, transportation systems, and infrastructure to support airport operations and improve the overall traveler experience. Landside Operations encompasses ground transportation services, roadway & curbside improvements, employee parking, rental car operations, parking garage facility management, and emerging infrastructure such as electric vehicle (EV) charging. The Project Development Intern will work with the OPD team to support active projects & operational planning efforts. Below is a general summary of the intern's scope of work and potential support opportunities: Assist the Project Development Manager with various projects associated with Landside Operations and in some cases, Terminal Operations. Intern will develop practical knowledge & participate in the key phases of the Project Life Cycle. Work with the team to gain experience in project scope development, research, and documentation for both current and planned facility projects. Support coordination efforts with internal & external stakeholders to advance project development activities. Support department irregular operations (IROPS) as it relates to planning and operational readiness efforts during the peak summer travel period at SEA. This will include communication support, coordination support, and potential development of operations activation materials. Work with the Landside Business Analyst to examine ground transportation and employee parking data, recognize patterns, and assist in recommending LEAN process improvements. Develop an understanding of SEA’s Sustainable Airport Master Plan’s Near-Term Projects as it relates to Landside Infrastructure and Operations.
