The College and Career Advisor works with the Administration, Teachers, Parents, and Students to promote student success. The role focuses on enhancing students' academic success and guiding future career and college planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field
  • Certified or Certifiable in Florida
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Clear criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with standardized testing coordination (SAT, ACT, AP)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive college and career advising plan
  • Provide individual and group support for academic, social, and spiritual success
  • Collaborate with faculty and parents to increase student success
  • Monitor academic programs and make recommendations for improvements
  • Support and advocate for students in academic and career planning
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure graduation requirements are met
  • Coordinate and oversee college representative visits, testing, and college fairs
  • Provide advice on dual enrollment, scholarships, and financial aid
  • Meet regularly with students and parents for college and career guidance
  • Help with graduation planning and ceremonies
  • Create and deliver career curriculum for middle school students
  • Review transcripts, schedule electives, and track test scores
  • Coordinate PSAT, SAT, PERT, ACT, AP testing, and college fairs
  • Organize meetings for college planning, including College Night and visits
  • Assist with dual enrollment coordination and scholarship applications
  • Advise students on career planning and provide guidance on graduation requirements
  • Communicate with parents about academic opportunities and financial aid
  • Update academic policies and manuals annually
  • Keep up-to-date with state graduation requirements and attend relevant conferences
  • Advise students on community service opportunities and track and monitor community service hours for graduation
  • Support extracurricular activities and attend after-school events
  • Perform special duties, including assisting during fire drills and other tasks as assigned by the Head of School or Secondary Principal
