About The Position

As a Collections Solutions Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting members during financially stressful situations. You’ll work one‑on‑one with members to understand their circumstances, identify solutions that help them regain financial stability, and reduce potential losses to both the member and the credit union. This role involves high volumes of outbound calls, voicemail follow-ups, and collaboration with branch staff—especially when members visit in person after receiving collection outreach. You will work assigned queues based on days‑delinquent and use your communication skills, empathy, and technical accuracy to deliver exceptional service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 2+ years experience in collections, lending, or a related financial services field.
  • Knowledge of: Wisconsin Consumer Act Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) (Knowledge is a plus; not required.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web‑based applications, and financial services software; Temenos experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with members experiencing financial hardship.
  • Provide outstanding service in every interaction, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Contact members via phone, written communication, and occasional in-person conversations.
  • Use excellent listening and problem‑solving skills to deescalate difficult situations and identify viable repayment solutions.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation of all member interactions.
  • Partner with internal teams and branch staff to create and implement appropriate resolutions consistent with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Work assigned delinquency queues, making high‑volume outbound calls—often resulting in voicemail outreach and follow‑up.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally when members visit branches in response to collection calls.
