About The Position

As a Collections Manager, you will lead and manage the collections functions, focusing on resolving overdue accounts, negotiating payment arrangements, and implementing strategies to minimize bad debt. Your role will involve building and maintaining strong customer relationships to effectively address billing, payment, and collection-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent demonstrated experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of collections experience, preferably within a commercial services, construction, or similar industry.
  • Prior management experience leading a successful team.
  • Proven track record of driving improvements in accounts receivable and cash flow performance.
  • Strong supervisory skills and expertise in accounts receivable collections.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work hands-on, leading a team of 3-4 people.
  • Experience working in a high volume environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., relevant industry certifications) are a plus.
  • Experience with Workday and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally and proactively with customers to address disputes and payment concerns.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the collections and cash application team to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate application of payments (ACH, wire, checks) and manage unapplied cash and discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, billing, and finance to resolve issues and prevent future collection challenges.
  • Monitor and report on key accounts receivable metrics, including DSO, aging, write-offs, and collection trends.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to Sr. management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update credit, billing, and collections policies and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
