About The Position

Provide leadership and direction to the Consumer Collections Unit. Oversee the operations related to the Loss Mitigation program (Workout), ensure the effective execution of strategies aimed at mitigating losses. In addition, manage Back Office Support functions, supervise the Collections Management Information System (MIS), and direct the Bankruptcy Operational unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field is required and five or more years of experience in collections operations management is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagrammatic form and handle both abstract and concrete variables.
  • Attention to details, addressing customer issues or operational challenges efficiently.
  • Proficient with software, equipment, or platforms used in daily tasks.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assign responsibility for investigating and verifying financial status of prospective customers applying for loss mitigation (workouts), preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications.
  • Establish loss mitigation criteria limitations for customers and manage special credit exceptions and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Manage the unit that prepares the MIS and data support for all the collection units including daily distribution of analyses and reports to management.
  • Establish and update loss mitigation (workout) criteria.
  • Establish and update internal/external collections policies/strategies according to business needs and/or economic conditions.
  • Review collection reports to determine the status of collections, identify outstanding balances, and assess the efficiency of existing collection policies and procedures.
  • Maintain departmental capacity at the required levels.
  • Lead the collection project initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams, establishing milestones, and overseeing progress to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Primary liaison for internal or external audit reviews of the collections unit.
  • Support management in developing collections and credit policies.
