About The Position

The Coffee Shop Associate supports the daily front-of-house operations of the retail coffee shop and serves as the face of New England Coffee. This role provides outstanding customer service while expertly preparing a variety of coffee beverages and food items. Working in a lively café environment, the associate engages with a diverse group of customers each day and collaborates closely with team members to create welcoming, memorable experiences. Energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for coffee and food are essential to delivering consistent quality, accurate transactions, and a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

Requirements

  • Experience with cash handling and coffee service preferred and prior foodservice experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, cleanliness, and quality
  • Basic computer proficiency: experience with POS systems preferred
  • Strong communication, customer service, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, reaching, bending, and climbing
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, legally authorized to work in the United States, and able to pass a background check
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English (Spanish a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the café according to posted hours, ensuring operational readiness and accuracy
  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and food items with attention to quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Provide friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable customer service by greeting guests, taking orders, answering questions, and addressing concerns effectively
  • Accurately process transactions using the WIX POS and enter consolidated daily sales into the company-wide system.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food preparation, service, seating, and work areas, including manual dishwashing
  • Perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and equipment checks to ensure food safety and product quality; promptly report equipment issues to the internal service team
  • Assist with food handling and basic food preparation tasks to support freshness and quality standards
  • Manage time efficiently during high-volume periods to serve customers quickly while maintaining accuracy
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders to ensure adequate supplies for daily operations
  • Collaborate with café associates and the fulfillment supervisor to update front-of-house offerings based on trends and product availability
  • Follow all safety procedures and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, quality, and legal standards
  • Understand and follow the facility emergency action plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned
