Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a COBOL Professional to provide support to a federal customer. The Program: The Client’s service is responsible for exchanging payroll data with the DFAS, resulting in a payroll amount of approximately two-billion-dollars annually. The Department’s Payroll function is outsourced to the DFAS for the actual payroll calculation(s), creation of the employee’s Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), and other tax documents. The DPP service is used to sort, combine, and process the required Human Resource information, Time and Attendance information and other applicable information for the DFAS. The data processing programs are written in COBOL and run in a batch mode. DPP also utilizes several utility programs that 14 were developed with Job Control Language (JCL) for sorting, backups, restores, etc. The batch applications communicate with the Corporate Human Resource Information System, DOEInfo and ATAAPS database management systems through SQLNet/Oracle and Secure File Transfer utilities. Payroll processing involves daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual processes. There are approximately 52 jobs included in the payroll processing, which involves indexed sequential access method (ISAM)-based file processing. DPP utilizes Microsoft Windows application-based operating system, Oracle Databases, integrated development environment, batch scheduling, file editing, secure file transfer and data comparison software.
