About The Position

Responsible for the daily efficient operation of systems and subsystems for the business unit. Understands processes and objectives, responds to production issues, performs troubleshooting, and initiates improvements. Ensures effective interfaces with other applications. · Responsible for developing automated programs to meet design requirements and specifications. Researches alternatives and possible solutions, prepares analysis of complexity, feasibility, and recommends solutions. · Responsible for coordinating the interfaces between systems and applications. · Participates in technical planning, including but not limited to, determining tasks associated with project assignments, estimates and dependencies. · Responsible for creating test plans, building test data, testing processes and systems following MGIC’s standards and guidelines. · Responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects, including creating detailed program documentation. Keeps management aware of progress and issues. · Responsible for compliance with project and development life cycle processes. Adheres to established coding standards. · Responsible for supporting various corporate functions systems. · Nature of work requires 24/7 availability; working off-hours may be required.

  • Proficiency in programs and tools: o Mainframe o COBOL programming o Easytrieve programming o JCL o Tivoli scheduling o Diagramming o JIRA
  • Strong proficiency in technical writing; written and verbal communication
  • Ability to break down the technical to business terms
  • Estimation capability
