About The Position

The Coating Technician, Level II is responsible for the coating of optical components and maintenance of certain equipment under the direction of their supervisor or manager. 2nd shift hours are Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 1:30am.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand spec sheets, run sheets, routings, and work instructions
  • Ability to think critically and seek advice when needed
  • Mechanical and visual acuity skill sets to facilitate the coating process to the required specifications
  • Good math skills, including proficiency in basic algebra
  • Basic computer skills including working proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Some technical schooling or associate’s degree in technical discipline preferred
  • 1+ years in manufacturing or QA related environment preferred
  • Adequate manual dexterity to perform essential functions; ability to use some physical efforts in the handling of heavy materials and machinery (most tasks require no more than 50 lbs. lifting); position requires about 80% standing; ability to work in manufacturing environment.
  • Work overtime as required
  • US Citizenship or permanent residence required

Responsibilities

  • Perform setups and checklist steps required to prepare coating chambers for standard operation
  • Independently operate coating production equipment IAW SOPs, run sheets and routings
  • Communicate all changes of setup and programming to engineering and/or Supervisor
  • Assist engineers with the optimization and development of new processes
  • Conduct a wide variety of preventative maintenance procedures
  • Setup, load, unload and maintain coating fixtures
  • Perform visual inspections of pre and post-coated optics for defects
  • Measure finished parts using a variety of metrology equipment
  • Assist in the creation and revision of work instructions
  • Through cross training, become proficient with all coating chambers
  • May be required to use a ladder
  • Will be required to use shop and power tools
  • Participate in 6S activities which include but are not limited to cleaning, organizing, and improving the efficiency of workspaces.
  • Organize and maintain consumables and maintenance supplies
  • Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and protocols
  • Other duties as assigned
