The Head Coach of Men’s Basketball is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the men’s basketball program. This includes coaching, recruiting, player development, program administration, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and university policies. The coach serves as a mentor to student-athletes, promotes academic achievement, and represents the university in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Significant coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, with demonstrated success in men’s basketball.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and extensive travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement competitive basketball strategies, practices, and game plans that align with the university’s goals and values.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and sign prospective student-athletes in compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes on and off the court, emphasizing academic success, sportsmanship, and personal development.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the men’s basketball program including scheduling, budgeting, travel, and equipment.
  • Hire, train, and supervise assistant coaches, trainers, and support staff.
  • Maintain compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Foster a positive team culture and promote community engagement through outreach and events.
  • Serve as the primary representative of the men’s basketball program to the university, alumni, media, and public.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director and other university officials to advance the goals of the athletics department.
