About The Position

Concordia University Irvine seeks a motivated and knowledgeable Assistant Coach for STUNT to support the development and competitive success of the STUNT program. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, training, recruiting, scouting, and program administration, while fostering a positive, Christ-centered team culture consistent with the mission and values of CUI and the Department of Athletics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily: Coaching & Player Development Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions focused on skill development, technique, strategy, and safety. Teach and demonstrate proper stunt, tumble, jump, and routine execution in accordance with USA Cheer STUNT rules. Support game-day and competition preparation, including routine cleaning, review, and performance evaluation. Provide constructive feedback to student-athletes to enhance performance, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Recruitment & Talent Identification Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes who align with NCAA Division II standards and CUI's mission. Maintain regular communication with recruits, families, and club/high school coaches. Represent CUI STUNT at recruiting events, clinics, competitions, and camps. Program Operations & Administration Contribute to the planning and execution of team travel, events, clinics, and fundraising activities. Assist with video analysis, scouting reports, and strategic planning. Ensure compliance with all NCAA, PacWest Conference, and institutional policies, including safety standards and eligibility requirements. Support program marketing, alumni engagement, and social media initiatives as assigned. Student-Athlete Support & Mentorship Promote academic accountability, life skills, and spiritual development. Maintain a positive, team-oriented atmosphere that reflects Christian values and supports the holistic growth of each student-athlete. Provide mentorship and serve as a role model for integrity, leadership, and character.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Competitive or coaching experience in STUNT, cheerleading, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong technical knowledge of STUNT rules, scoring, and routine elements.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Concordia University Irvine as a Christian institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coaching at the collegiate level.
  • USA Cheer certifications (e.g., Safety, STUNT Coach Certification).
  • Experience with recruiting databases and video analysis software.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NCAA Division II rules and compliance procedures.
