About The Position

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking passionate Co-op in Software Development and Bioinformatics to help us to eliminate disease causing proteins through targeted protein degradation­­­–a novel and exciting way to drugging proteins that until recently were considered un-druggable. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project, as well as expose you to other drug discovery projects and involve you in the process of solving complex biological questions. Requirements

  • Our preference is for a student currently in a Master degree program in Data Sciences, Bioinformatics, or Computer Science with an interest in a life science
  • Enthusiasm for exploring the intersection of software and data engineering, data science and life sciences to develop innovative applications that accelerate the drug discovery process.
  • Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go) (Strong bias to Python)
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to software development within a team environment.
  • Openness to acquiring new skills in software design and architecture.
  • Familiarity with coding practices and principles, with a willingness to develop Fskills in writing clean, maintainable and testable code as well as designing effective APIs.
  • Experience or interest in the design and implementation of high-quality scalable and extendable software architectures.
  • Familiarity or a desire to learn cloud computing services (Experience with AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, SQS, SNS, Amplify, AppSync, DynamoDB, Cloudformation etc )

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design discussions with our Biomarker and Clinical Research teams to translate business usecases into technical requirements and helping to design solutions to meet those requirements
  • Assist with a new tool under development that extracts and aggregates schedule of events data and other data from over 50,000 registered clinical trials
  • Develop and evaluate approaches (LLMs, vector embeddings, hybrid methods) to identify and group semantically similar events/biomarkers (e.g., "CBC," "complete blood count," "full blood panel")
  • Deliver a working semantic grouping implementation and UI/UX designs validated by our Biomarker and Clin Ops teams.
