About The Position

About the Role: This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2026. Resume review begins in January 2026. In this position, you will be a part of the Immunology Research Unit on the West Coast Hub of Biogen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a PhD or master’s student to engage in high-impact research within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of fundamental immunology and therapeutic innovation. You will contribute to advancing our understanding of immune mechanisms and translating these insights into strategies for developing transformative therapies that address critical unmet medical needs. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain biopharma experience and deepen their scientific knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and explore innovative approaches that drive discovery and improve patient outcomes. What You’ll Do: As a Co-op, you will work closely with scientists in the Immunology Research Unit to advance ongoing drug discovery programs aimed at developing novel therapies for immune-mediated diseases. You will actively contribute to existing experimental workflows and play a role in developing and optimizing new assays that support ongoing programs. You will also collaborate with other scientists to learn new assays and experimental techniques and gain exposure to the drug discovery process. Detailed description of role including but not limited to: Gain hands-on experience with cell-based assays, including work with both established cell lines and primary immune cells. Learn and apply advanced techniques such as flow cytometry, immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, MSD), and other molecular biology methods to characterize immune responses. Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, using industry-standard tools to generate meaningful insights for ongoing projects. Participate in team meetings and scientific discussions, presenting your findings and learning how decisions are made in a fast-paced research environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of immunology, develop technical and analytical skills, and gain firsthand exposure to how innovative science drives therapeutic discovery Example projects may include: Analysis of Immune Mediators and Signaling Pathways in immune mediated diseases Cytokine Network Mapping in Inflammatory Disease Models Who You Are: Understands basic immunology concepts; familiarity with immune signaling pathways is highly desirable Hands-on wet lab experience in a research or academic setting Experience with basic cell culture; Experience with primary cell culture techniques is a plus Exposure to cell-based assays (eg: viability, activation, or functional assays) is advantageous. Exposure to immunoassays like flow cytometry, ELISA and/or Luminex is a plus To participate in the Biogen Internship or Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date. Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university or skills program/apprenticeship. Education Requirements Current PhD student or a current Masters student Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field Job Level: Internship Additional Information The base compensation range for this role is: - The actual hourly wage offered will consider the candidate’s current academic level and degree candidacy, inclusive of Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, JD, MD, PhD and MBA programs. It will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements specific to the job location. Requirements

  • Understands basic immunology concepts; familiarity with immune signaling pathways is highly desirable
  • Hands-on wet lab experience in a research or academic setting
  • Experience with basic cell culture
  • Current PhD student or a current Masters student Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.

Nice To Haves
