About The Position

The Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist provides integrated, person-centered care to individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges within our Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (I-CPRC) program. This role focuses on building trusting relationships, delivering evidence-based interventions, and empowering individuals to achieve lasting recovery and improved quality of life. Requirements

  • High School/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree required unless otherwise approved by DMH
  • At least one (1) year of training or supervised experience in substance use treatment is required
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
  • Qualified Addiction Professional credential required (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCDP or CCJP MO)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver integrated co-occurring disorder services aligned with individualized treatment and wellness plans
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments addressing both mental health and substance use needs
  • Utilize motivational interviewing, outreach, and engagement strategies to support individuals at all stages of change
  • Provide individual counseling and facilitate/co-facilitate co-occurring disorder groups
  • Implement evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral strategies and relapse prevention
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support whole-person care
  • Model co-occurring treatment approaches and support team skill development through consultation and cross-training
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical supervision
  • Provide community-based services, including transportation support as needed
