About The Position

The primary function of the CNMS Wrestling Head Coach is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that effectively provides the best possible education for each student athlete. This role encompasses professional performance, including compliance with school and school board policies, cooperative work with staff, positive relations with parents and community, professional growth, accurate record-keeping, and responsibility for equipment, facilities, and a safe environment. Instructional performance involves promoting positive interaction among student athletes, demonstrating enthusiasm, fostering self-direction, setting clear standards, possessing subject matter knowledge, adapting instruction, maintaining an organized program with effective planning, utilizing varied strategies, communicating expectations, and monitoring student progress.

  • To encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students.
  • To create clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance.
  • To demonstrate knowledge of the area being coached.
  • To demonstrate the ability to adjust instruction of strategy and fundamentals to student athlete’s needs and interests.
  • To maintain an organized basketball program based on effective long-range plans.
  • To exhibit evidence of effective planning and organization.
  • To utilize a variety of appropriate strategies and resources.
  • To communicate fundamental coaching expectations and their importance to students.
  • To utilize appropriate and varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
  • To maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons.
