About The Position

Flextrades is hiring experienced CNC Swiss Machinists and Operators for 3-6 month travelling contracts across the US. These roles serve as a lead setup resource, focusing on programming and proving out new parts on CNC Swiss machines and supporting production as needed. The position also plays a key role in sharing knowledge and best practices with full-time machinists and operators in a high-precision, tight-tolerance manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• 4+ years setting up/operating Swiss Lathes
• Ability to read customer drawings and CAD models (often SolidWorks), apply GD&T, and work with both standard and metric measurements
• Experience working in high-mix, low-volume environments while holding very tight tolerances
• Experience selecting cutting tools and materials (mainly stainless steel, with some mild steel and plastics)
• Strong communication and mentoring skills
• Proficient in CNC Tooling
• Proficient in CNC Programming
• Proficient in CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
• References Required
• Must pass a background check and drug test

Responsibilities

• Setup Swiss Lathes producing Complex parts
• Complete setups including taking out collets, putting in new collets, and tooling
• Select cutting tools and make adjustments for best performance
• Responsible for up to 2 machines at a time (Machinist)
• Operating CNC Swiss machines running on G&M code and integrated with bar feeders (Operator)
• Completing basic offsets and adjustments for part quality and tool wear and troubleshooting when issues occur as a “first responder” (Operator)
• No speed/feed changes (Operator)
