About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The CNC Specialist is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs and machine setups that ensure efficient, repeatable, and high-quality production processes. This role plays a key part in standardizing machine practices, supporting root cause investigations, and driving process improvements across CNC operations. Working cross-functionally with Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams, this hands-on specialist ensures tooling integrity, process compliance, and operational excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and verify CNC programs across various machines and product lines. Perform and validate machine setups; ensure compliance through first-piece inspections. Analyze production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Monitor and document tooling wear/life through manual and automated systems. Create and maintain standard work instructions, setup sheets, and CNC process documentation. Apply quality tools such as FMEA and SPC to monitor and improve process capability. Maintain strong working knowledge of CNC control systems and continuously update skills as technologies evolve. Perform additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, vocational certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in machining, manufacturing, or a technical field.
  • Over 7 years of hands-on experience in CNC machining, including programming, setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • High attention to detail and quality
  • Effective communicator with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to lead small technical projects and mentor peers
  • Advanced CNC programming and setup capability
  • Proficiency with SPC, FMEA, and other quality control tools
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with inspection tools, measurement systems, and standard shop documentation
