JOB SUMMARY Primary Role- Setup and Operate CNC machines by following the appropriate schedules for either Lathe or Milling cells. Secondary Role – Create or edit programs which are efficient for CNC machines to provide optimum utilization of each machines capabilities and tooling arrangements while being able to minimize setup times. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Setting up and running Lathes or Mills as needed or directed by the supervisor. Create efficient programs maximizing machine utilization and product quality to ensure customer expectations are met. Complete and maintain CNC program documentation. Start 30mins early each day to ensure machines are warmed up and Coolants/Oils have been topped up noting any deficiencies to the Supervisor. Staying over 30mins into the afternoon shift to assist with any training or setup issues they may be coming into at some point during the shift. Be available to take calls after hours to help support the afternoon shift (till 7pm) Contribute to the cost reduction programs by actively seeking and reporting opportunities for reduced costs. By optimizing Tool Life – begin working with programing Tool Life for high running tools. Trainer for new processes and new hires. Work with Production Manager on consumable tooling by ensuring stock levels are set properly and obsolete tools are removed from inventory, etc. Work as a direct link between engineering and production. Develop and maintain open communication with all personnel in the shop Work on enhancing older programs as they come up with better/newer tooling allowing us to machine the parts faster. FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Help lead development and maintenance of part specific tooling list. Work with Engineering whenever needed for First Article parts or new tooling. Participate in process improvement initiatives
