About The Position

The CNC Set-Up I Operator will operate, change over, and set-up CNC machines on low to medium complexity components using automated and manual equipment and processes to meet end customer needs. This is an entry-level Set-Up position that draws on prior machining experience and technical critical thinking skills to operate, change over, and set-up a minimum of two (2) types of primary CNC equipment. This role must be able to work both independently and in a team environment with internal team members, leads, and supervisors to provide quality CNC Programming and Manufacturing Engineering. They are also responsible for communicating with management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated CNC experience with a minimum one (1) year as a level III Operator.
  • Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others in English, both verbally and in written form.
  • Must have a professional and respectful attitude.
  • Capable of adjusting and calculating feeds and speeds and apply knowledge of G and M codes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, change over, and set-up a minimum of 2 types of primary CNC equipment within the time allotted by planning and Operator Standard Work.
  • Complete all operational processes, checklists, and procedures as required.
  • Identify and assemble cutting tools and tool holder assemblies based on existing process documentation.
  • Prepare all tooling, fixturing, and program prove out for the machines.
  • Pick-up work offsets.
  • Execute all necessary tooling adjustments, center of rotation adjustments, work off set adjustments, and make minor programming updates (feeds and speeds).
  • Verify dimensions from CMM reports.
  • Validate inspection methods to determine best practices.
  • Use data from inspection report to make improvements or corrections to programs. Must collaborate with Inspectors during the final assembly process to implement improvements.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on parts before engaging final inspection.
  • Attend ABB or Fanuc Training and apply training, as necessary.
  • Complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
