About The Position

Position Overview Responsible for operating and setup of all of equipment in department. Responsible for set up, program changes and minor equipment maintenance. Incumbents are considered top of their field by being able to successfully troubleshoot all equipment and use their expertise to solve problems and eliminate scrap, rework, and downtime. Trains all lower-level operators. May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Requirements

  • 5 years of experience operating CNC machines
  • Intermediate ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English
  • Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes
  • Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures - detect defects
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and work with blueprints
  • Ability to train, coordinate and communicate effectively with all departments
  • 5 years of previous experience or equivalent knowledge
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate equipment for all product types successfully.
  • Inspects tooling and set up and makes programming changes as needed.
  • Load raw materials and fixtures, ensuring proper alignment and set up
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings and work instructions
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges and indicators
  • Monitor machine performance and make minor offsets or adjustments as needed
  • Change tooling and inserts according to job specifications
  • Maintain quality standards to meet tight tolerance requirements
  • Should be actively involved in Continuous Improvement within the area to promote safety, quality, throughput and the addition of any new equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment to determine problems that may arise
  • Inspect finished parts for gauge thickness, defects and proper fit up
  • Document production counts, scrap and quality checks
  • Other duties as assigned
