About The Position

Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leader in large gen-set packaging and enclosures. Summary: The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing computer numerical control (CNC) programs, Manufacturing Work/Setup Instructions, and Inspection Instructions. This position also will create tool paths for products produced on our CNC machinery. Develop tooling templates for products as well as prototypes for new products. Working with design/implementations of precision cutting tools primarily in the Power Generation and automotive industry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including the ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, algebra, trigonometry, and measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams into work
  • Demonstrated success in CNC programming including a broad knowledge of tooling required to perform various complex machining operations with the ability to identify required tools, reading blueprints and parts drawings to integrate GD&T, gauge functions, gauge calibrations, sediment testing, and auditing to improve machine operations
  • Demonstrated experience with fiber lasers, punch presses, press brakes, and panel benders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Requires experience with CAD/CAM software (Radan)

Nice To Haves

  • CNC Programming, NIMS, or other applicable certificates.
  • Associates or bachelor’s in engineering technology, Applied Science, Automotive Tech, Business, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in managing calibration programs and records.
  • Ability to create charts, graphs, presentations using Excel and PowerPoint Ability to effectively
  • Demonstrated experience with SolidWorks
  • Spanish Bi-lingual a plus

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings and develop CNC programs. This will include using Cad/Cam software and/or manually writing the program, maintaining legacy CNC programs, using whichever method is required.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing group with regards to the manufacturing processes/tooling related to the CNC Machines. This also would include interpreting inspection/CMM data and analyzing results. Make recommendations and/or adjustments based on analysis or experience and/or other manufacturing related issues as required.
  • Determine tooling/gauging requirements to manufacture parts in the most efficient manner which includes using existing tooling, recommendations of new tooling, or developing tooling and fixtures with or without assistance from engineers and machine shop leads as required.
  • Develop Work Instructions and/or Setup Instructions to aid in the manufacturing of parts. These instructions will be generated either during the programming task or independently as required.
  • Develop Inspection Methods/Instructions to ensure that manufactured parts meet Engineering drawings and/or final print requirements. This may require working with tool designers, engineering, and/or inspection to determine best methods/gaging to accurately perform inspection.
  • Review production schedules, daily logs, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities in assigned area to ensure timely delivery of customer.
  • Review and adjust existing CNC post processors to optimize equipment use and functions as it relates to manufacturing needs.
  • Work with IT to keep programming software current, this includes working with existing post processors and creating new post processors for use with existing equipment utilizing the programming software available for each machine.
  • Maintain records for CNC Programming. These documents include but are not limited to CNC Programs, Daily Logs, Setup Instructions, Work Instructions, Inspection Instructions, and Program Approvals.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to identify & document any project challenges and opportunities to support team members, team leaders, and engineers.
  • As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production. Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools, and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
