About The Position

The Programmer will work with engineering, operations, and project management to develop and/or improve technical manufacturing solutions for new and existing programs and will assist in problem solving and optimization of part programs and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, 2 year Technical Degree preferred
  • Must have 2 years’ experience programming with Catia V5/6, CAD/CAM, NX a plus with a minimum of 3 years of machining experience
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
  • Knowledge of G codes, M codes, Cutter Comps, Offsets, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • This position requires a good understanding of part holding, machine operation and G code as well as knowledge of advanced machining techniques
  • Good reasoning, problem solving, and communication skills (verbal and written) are needed for this position
  • Ability to multitask required, flexibility and open mindedness are desired

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Run Instructions, Setup Sheets and Tool Lists for parts being programmed.
  • Pulling files from Catia.
  • Reviews 3D CAD design blueprints.
  • Creates Multi-axis toolpath for CNC Mills using current Catia (V5-R32) program.
  • Create 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC mill programs
  • Update repeat jobs to current internal standards and latest engineering revision (includes, 3, 4, and 5 axis and sheet metal)
  • Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
  • Chooses cutting tools that will be needed and calculates proper Feeds and Speeds.
  • Analyzes operation sequence, to optimize machine time and setup.
  • Writes programs using Post Processors and edits existing ones for increased efficiency.
  • Understands Multi Axis machining on Horizontal and Vertical Mills using a Rotary Axis.
  • Uses a standard Tool List, when possible, to eliminate unnecessary tool changes in the machine.
  • Personally, proofs out the program being made with the help of an operator to ensure the program works properly, and the parts are being made to print.
  • Performs a First Article Inspection (FAI) before handing parts off to the Machine Shop.
  • Communicates well with Engineering and other Programmers.
  • Develop technical manufacturing options for new product introduction and transfer of work
  • Evaluates assigned parts for best program and fixturing processes
  • Stays current with new tooling and programming practices.
  • Incorporate more efficient tools and practices as they are recognized
  • Work with engineering, operations, and project management concerning product manufacturing
  • Work with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, and other considerations regarding production processes
  • Assist with resolution of customer, technical and quality issues
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
