About The Position

The CNC Programmer is responsible for designing efficient, manufacturable tools to meet customer needs and generating precise tool paths to support OMNI’s mold-making operations. This role ensures high-quality tooling while balancing cost, manufacturability, and ease of use for production teams.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in CAM software.
  • CNC programming experience preferred; toolpath programming is a plus.
  • Associate’s degree preferred, or 3–5 years of relevant training/experience.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Generate tool paths for molds and mill parts using CAM software.
  • Develop manufacturable tool designs in 3D modeling software, aligned with customer requirements and OMNI’s capabilities.
  • Provide accurate tooling and machine part cost estimates.
  • Build work orders in OMNI’s ERP system, assigning BOM items and specifying special-ordered materials and tooling.
  • Specify materials and generate machining instructions for each tool component.
  • Continuously improve tooling designs and standards based on past performance, focusing on cost efficiency and tool effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with machinists and molders to identify best practices based on historical tool performance, scrap reduction, and repair requirements.
  • Support estimating efforts for tooling and machine fixtures, evaluating manufacturability of proposed part designs.
  • Drive improvements in machining capabilities and overall efficiency for both mold making and mill parts.
