Responsibilities include: Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the best method which the product can be produced by existing manufacturing processes and methods. Creates, implements, and troubleshoots CNC programs for new parts start-ups using MasterCAM or Part Maker or alternate. Determines feasibility of designing new tooling or equipment considering costs, time limitations and other technical and economic factors. Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations. Confers with customers to clarify or resolve problems in developing designs or processes. Proficient working with customer drawings & models, creating and modifying models, and creating documentation to support machinists. Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Is knowledgeable regarding processes such as anodizing, chromate, heat treat, grinding, etc. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confers with manufacturing management, programmers and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods for maintaining or increasing production levels while improving production costs, yields, quality, and safety. Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs. Develops and updates process procedures to ensure that documentation is accurate and understandable. Has good working knowledge of metrology to facilitate interaction with inspectors. Has understanding of SPC and Process Capability. Determines the test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes. Keeps abreast of latest products, services, and technologies, and assists in developing new products and enhancement of existing ones. Performs technical presentations to customers and prospects. Assists in the development and generation of formal sales proposal documentation on customer solutions.
