About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION: Sets-up and operates CNC press brake to bend and form various sizes, shapes, and types of sheet metal parts as specified by part blueprints to meet quality and production standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Three months commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.
  • Experience: Three to four years related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reads blueprints and production orders.
  • Accurately uses a square, rule and protractor.
  • Retrieves own parts and dies.
  • Enters data into the machine's controller to create a program to run a part including entering gage data (x, r and z coordinates, bend allowances, gage types); entering ram data (tonnage control, positioning, speeds); and entering any detailed information necessary for another operator to run the job in the future (die choices, die positions, information vital to running the job successfully).
  • Completes own setups.
  • Verifies print to latest engineering revision and then verifies part is made to print specifications.
  • Inspects part for any nonconformities including those of a cosmetic nature (i.e. scratches, dents, deformities).
  • Arranges completed parts in an orderly fashion and moves finished parts to holding area.
  • Keeps appropriate production records.
  • Services press brake as required and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as required
