About The Position

Position Summary: The Walter CNC Tool & Cutter Grinder is responsible for operating and maintaining Walter Helitronic CNC tool grinding equipment to manufacture high-precision cutting tools. This role involves machine setup, program adjustment, inspection, and continuous quality control to ensure tools meet exact print and performance requirements. Key Responsibilities: Operate Walter CNC tool grinders to produce high-precision cutting tools. Perform machine setups including wheel changes, workholding adjustments, and parameter verification. Troubleshoot, edit, and adjust CNC programs; apply tool and machine offsets to maintain tight tolerances. Inspect tools using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment. Verify tool geometry, surface finish, and wear to ensure compliance with quality standards. Maintain machine cleanliness, monitor coolant systems, and perform basic preventive maintenance. Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve processes and meet delivery schedules. Accurately complete production and inspection documentation. Work overtime as required to support production demands.

Requirements

  • Technical degree, vocational training, or equivalent hands-on CNC/tool grinding experience.
  • Proficiency using precision inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Dependable, conscientious work ethic with a stable employment history.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented, high-accountability environment.

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of cutting tool geometry, materials, and wear characteristics.
  • Experience with Walter Tool Studio or similar CNC grinding software.
  • Prior experience operating high-precision CNC tool grinders in a production environment.
