Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator experienced in operating CNC press brakes and CNC laser/water cutting machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, precision measurement, and blueprint reading. The ability to program and operate robotic cells is a significant advantage. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality fabricated components for armored steel applications while ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC machine operation experience in metal fabrication (milling, turning, press brake or water-jet/plasma cutting).
  • Proficiency in operating CNC press brakes and CNC laser/water cutters.
  • Familiarity with G-code, Fanuc, Haas, or similar control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T symbols.
  • Experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic knowledge of robotic equipment (Fanuc, ABB, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in programming CNC press brakes and robotic welders.
  • Familiarity with armored steel fabrication and military specifications.
  • Previous experience in a defense or heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC press brakes to bend and form steel components per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate CNC laser/water cutting equipment to cut, shape, and prepare parts for assembly and welding.
  • Select proper tooling, fixtures, and programs to meet production requirements.
  • Perform first article inspections and in-process checks to ensure dimensional accuracy and part quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions.
  • Maintain proper material identification and traceability for armored plate and fabricated components.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and make minor adjustments to maintain tolerances.
  • Assist in programming, setting up, and operating robotic welding systems (preferred).
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Follow safety procedures, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout, and material handling guidelines.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, including lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
