Job Summary: The Working Lead III Second Shift supervises and coordinates the operations, maintenance, and repairs of all CFS machines. Responsible for programs, sets up and operates Herdon, HTC’s, VRS-10’s, CNC coilers, mec and other spring machines to fabricate springs and flats. Machine operators will work with computer-controlled equipment, make sure their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained, and perform periodic quality and rate checks on output. Oversees and communicates the scheduled work in their department to be sure work is completed according to schedule. Create a productive work environment while setting a positive example for those working with them. Attends and contributes to daily and weekly reporting of productivity for his or her area. Oversees 2 nd shift employees and makes sure they’re working and safe on the job. Shuts everything down and locks up the building at the end of each night. Essential Job Functions: Daily allocation of work orders distributed from Production to area work force for completion. Review operators run rates and efficiencies for correct output. Assist area manager with employee relations. Monitor and escalate any issues in area to Management. Plan’s spring and flats fabrication by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Sets-up machines by installing and adjusting coiling points and arbors, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, material uncoiling and stress relief equipment. Performs work efficiently according to cycle time standards, and minimizes scrap and material used during the setup of the equipment. Provides necessary and detailed feedback for changes to engineering masters and product routers. Loads and replenishes machines by lifting stock into position, typically using an industrial forklift. Prepares and replenishes finished goods and WIP packaging for the off-loading of completed parts. Uses measurement tools and optical equipment to verify machine settings by measuring first piece, and sample workpieces, through the adherence to industry and certification specific standards. Maintains a clean work area and safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Walk the shop floor to make sure 2 nd shift employee are working and safe several times a night. Shut down the plant and make sure: all employees are out of the building. shuts everything down and looks up the building at the end of each night.
