About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machinery and related equipment to ensure minimal downtime and peak operational performance. This role supports production by performing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems associated with CNC machines and auxiliary equipment.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of CNC machine systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
  • Familiarity with control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, etc.) and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of machine alignment, leveling, and geometric accuracy checks
  • Understanding of safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational habits
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities under minimal supervision
  • Clear communication skills to interact with operators, vendors, and engineering teams
  • Safety-conscious with a proactive approach to hazard identification and correction
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of experience in CNC machine maintenance or industrial equipment maintenance
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Candidates "must/may need" to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred
  • Manufacturer training or certifications (e.g., Fanuc maintenance certification) are advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machines from manufacturers like Mazak, Haas, Okuma, or Mori Seiki preferred
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, routers, and other automated machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and some electrical issues on CNC equipment.
  • Maintain and repair supporting systems such as coolant delivery, chip removal, vacuum systems, and air compressors.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics to identify faults and execute repairs.
  • Coordinate with production teams to identify issues and schedule downtime for maintenance.
  • Document maintenance activities, parts used, and machine history accurately in maintenance tracking systems.
  • Assist in machine installations, relocations, and equipment upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
