The CNC machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. The CNC machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tool. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Perform set ups for small and large production runs on Turning and Machining Centers with minimum supervision. Indicating vises and loading tool changers with the proper tooling, to take a raw piece of material to a finished part. An understanding of speed and feeds and their relationship to different materials. Must be able to hold close tolerances within + or - .001. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. Understanding of G codes and conversational programming. Fanuc experience a plus. Capable of adjusting tool offsets on 2 and 3 axis machines, downloading programs and some editing. Inspect and check your own work, you are “Quality at the Source” and must have the integrity of filling out First Article Reports completely and honestly. Required to work out shop math problems – bolt holes, angle, and trigonometry. Follow all safety rules and procedures. Capable of working in a safe and productive manner. Capable of lifting 45 pounds in a safe manner.
