About The Position

The CNC Machinist is responsible for assisting in the setup and operation of CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in machining operations, quality inspection, and safety procedures. The CNC Machinist I will learn to read blueprints, use measuring tools, and support production efficiency while developing the technical skills needed to advance within the machining department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or educational equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of CNC machining or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Haas CNC machines or equivalent systems a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and performing repetitive machining tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required.
  • Ability to visually inspect small parts and detailed components.
  • Basic understanding of machining principles, materials, and cutting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Proficient in basic measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and willing to learn new processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, production environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean workspace.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Haas CNC machines or equivalent systems a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and operation of CNC lathes and mills to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, and facing on a variety of materials.
  • Load and secure raw materials or parts into machines using appropriate fixtures, chucks, or clamps.
  • Follow established machining instructions, safety procedures, and work orders to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Measure and inspect parts using basic precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and report issues such as tool wear, unusual sounds, or dimensional deviations to the CNC Machinist Lead or Process Engineering Manager.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
  • Assist with basic preventive maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication of machines.
  • Follow all safety and quality policies and immediately report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
