About The Position

The CNC Machinist Tooling is responsible to operate CNC mills and lathes in order to cut tooling. Machinists are responsible to load the machines, set up and operate mills and lathes, and write basic edits at the machine.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in set-up and operation of manual and CNC machines.
  • Computer skills to load programs; ability to edit computer programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of blueprints and die prints.
  • Advanced knowledge of all measuring devices including micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to check tool and die dimensions.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand for periods of two to three hours at a time.
  • Repeat the same movements.
  • Bend, twist, or stoop to load parts into the machine.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs comfortably.

Responsibilities

  • Performs visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections of all tool and dies as required.
  • Operate multiple machines when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned to help team meet its goals.
  • Program CNC mills and lathes using CAM software or G-code at the machine.
  • Set up and operate a wide range of CNC machines, including 3-axis and/or multi-axis equipment.
  • Select proper tooling, cutting parameters, and work holding methods for each job.
  • Machine precision tooling components, dies, fixtures, jigs, and custom parts from raw stock.
  • Develop prototypes and custom tools to support production, R&D, and engineering teams.
  • Modify existing tools or fixtures to improve performance or extend life.
  • Ensure all tools meet dimensional, geometric, and functional requirements.
