The CNC Tooling Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce high‑quality components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced production environment. Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm or 8:00am-4:00pm Pay Rate: $37.70-$45.45/hour

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of experience operating CNC milling machines
  • Proficient in use of SolidWorks and Mastercam (or equivalents CAD/CAM software)
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of G‑code and M‑code fundamentals

Nice To Haves

  • Formal machining or technical training (trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent)
  • Experience with Hurco mill controls
  • Ability to edit programs and optimize toolpaths
  • Ability to operate manual mill, lathe, and surface grinder

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC milling machine (3-axis Hurco)
  • Produce SolidWorks models and create machining programs in Mastercam (or equivalent)
  • Produce and modify drawings from models, sample components, or reverse engineering
  • Load programs, verify correctness, and edit CNC code when necessary
  • Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices
  • Interpret and understand mechanical drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
  • Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicators
  • Verify parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements
  • Document inspection results and follow quality procedures (ISO/AS standards if applicable)
  • Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout production runs
  • Troubleshoot issues related to tools, materials, machine wear, or program errors
  • Maintain machine program documentation and document work in CMMS
  • Meet or exceed production targets and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Experience machining parts from various materials (steel, stainless, plastic, etc.)
  • Perform production equipment tooling PM’s and inspections
  • Perform routine machine maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, coolant checks, tool life monitoring
  • Perform shop equipment PM’s and inspections
  • Follow all safety policies, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Keep work area organized and support 5S or similar programs
