About The Position

Exciting role for a Machinist who is looking to expand creativity and collaborate on new product introduction. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Responsibility and Functional Knowledge listed below satisfactorily. Analyze specifications, setup and operate machine tools, fit and assemble parts, fabricate and/or repair mechanical assemblies, build fixtures and jigs needed to perform specific tasks. Must be able to follow directions and work with limited supervision. Must be willing to work with and draw on the strengths of teammates. Must observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules and OSHA regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand/walk/use hands to handle or feel/reach with hands and arms/climb or balance/stoop/knell/crouch or crawl/and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Sets up and operates manual and CNC machines. Capabilities to include programming CNC machines along with editing pre-programmed parts as needed. Meets standard times on routers and reports to supervisor when deviating from standard time. This is a first shfit position working a 4/10 schedule: Mon-Thurs. 5:30am-4:00pm Reports to supervisor any conflict or problem that will interrupt the flow of work in the Machine Shop work environment. The employee will be required to maintain good housekeeping, safety, and organizational habits. At the end of each work shift the employee is required to clean his/her machine and the immediate floor area around the machine. Employee will be required to clean on a rotating basis with other employees, other areas of the shop and machinery that are less susceptible to chip build-up but do require less frequent cleaning. (ex. cutoff saws) All community tooling should be placed back in its proper storage location for the next person’s use.

Requirements

  • High school or GED
  • Vocational school or associates degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Has the ability to analyze a 3D Model using manufacturing software
  • Has 3-5 years’ experience with CNC set up/machining.
  • Be able to communicate drawing features and/or functionality/manufacturability with Engineering/Designers
  • Experience reading and comprehending instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Experience writing correspondence and reports.
  • Prior experience effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations before customers, clients, or other employees.
  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Thorough knowledge to Machine Shop mathematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems that may arise in certain situations. Must be able to tour all work sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled operating manual and CNC machines with limited supervison.
  • Mastercam/Creo programming experience.
  • CNC Vertical 3, 4, 5 Axis.
  • CNC Lathe, Mill-Turn.

  • Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations, and setup and tooling requirements.
  • Demonstrates set-up and thought process for sequence of operations.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for the layout of subsequent machining.
