About The Position

CNC Mill/Lathe Operator sets up, programs, and operates computer-controlled machines to fabricate precision metal/plastic parts based on blueprints. Key duties include installing tools, adjusting offsets, monitoring production, and inspecting finished components using precision tools to meet tight tolerances. They also perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and ensure safety.

Requirements

  • Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Previous experience with CNC machines, specifically lathes and/or mills (often 1–3 years).
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical school training is preferred.
  • Strong math skills for calculating dimensions and offsets.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), and work in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare CNC mills/lathes by installing tools, attachments, and fixtures.
  • Run production, including loading/unloading parts.
  • Edit existing programs, set tool/work offsets, and adjust speed/feed rates to optimize performance.
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify blueprint specs.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance (oiling, cleaning) and diagnose/resolve operational issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
