Join the Grede team and accelerate your development with a best-in-class organization! The CNC Machining Lead assists the production supervisor with daily production activities. Assists with the management of personnel within assigned production cells. Helps manage information and material (raw material, parts & tooling) flow in assigned production areas. Must take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production. The lead is required to start 30 minutes before and stay 30 minutes after their assigned shifts scheduled hours to ensure accurate and adequate shift communication.

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervision by directing the daily activities of production personnel to ensure quality, timeliness, and safe completion of work.
  • Participates in production planning as necessary.
  • Aid in the setup and implementation of new jobs when required.
  • Performs job setups or instructs and guides other personnel in the performance of setups.
  • Assists machine operators with machine adjustments, tooling changes, and quality checks.
  • Performs Tool Life Management studies and adjusts TLM targets.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots tooling problems and recommends improvements.
  • Works on machining and tooling projects involving new product engineering development and experimental work.
  • Recognizes and reports errors in programming and operations. Collaborates with programming personnel to correct such errors.
  • Requires knowledge of SPC procedures and applications. Able to train others in SPC applications.
  • Assumes full responsibility for the operations of the assigned department in the absence of the department supervisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous work assignments as directed.
  • Must maintain a good attendance record
