About The Position
This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to machine metal, cast aluminum, or plastics parts as needed.
Responsibilities
- Scan manufacturing orders for labor and machine time reporting.
- Follow oral and written instructions while using close vision to read and interpret CAD drawings and manufacturing orders.
- Locate suitable CNC Code (or "program") and transfer from the storage location to CNC machine and modify program as needed to meet final machining conditions and inspection tolerances.
- Prepare and pre-set all tools needed for machining operations from machine set-up sheets.
- Assemble cutting tools into tool holders and position tool holders into the machine tool changer.
- Perform first piece measurements and periodic quality checks as prescribed by the process documentation.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, look for ways to improve and promote quality, and offer ideas to improve machine performance.
