About The Position

Atlanta Gear Works is located in Dawsonville, GA. We are looking for a CNC Machinist with experience in gear grinding or hobbing to join our skilled team. Ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of prior gearing/hobbing experience. Must have experience in programming and ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, and be able to read mechanical drawings. This position is for a machinist, not operator. We are a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Minimum of three years experience in this field.
Must have experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.
Ability to lift small, medium and large objects, up to 50lbs regularly.
Stamina to work 40+ hours each week.
Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must undergo pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Technical school is a plus.

Responsibilities

Must be able to machine parts from mechanical drawings.
CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations.
Must have experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Ability to make simple math calculations.
