About The Position

This is a paid nurse training track opportunity for individuals who are natural caretakers, nursing students, former CNAs, HHAs, or PCAs. The CNA Training Track (Support Aide) offers insight into direct care by allowing participants to work alongside clinicians and assist residents. Upon applying, individuals will be slotted into the next available Nurse Aide Training Program to become a CNA. The training course lasts three weeks, Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (times may vary). The first two weeks involve classroom training, followed by a third week of clinical experience. After successfully passing the course, the status and pay will be adjusted from Support Aide to CNA. Elderwood covers the cost of the CNA certification test and applicable onboarding requirements like PPD and Physical for eligible candidates. The training itself is paid, meaning participants are compensated for their training hours.

Requirements

  • Sixteen (16) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Employment Certificate/Permit required for 16-17 years of age.
  • No findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment and misappropriation of property through any current or previous licensing agency.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents or accompanies ambulatory residents as assigned to various locations in the building including the dining room, activity program areas, therapy or treatment areas.
  • Make unoccupied resident beds, as assigned.
  • Assist in the Dining Room with food service to residents, under the direction of licensed therapy staff; duties include passing trays, cutting meat, opening cartons or other containers.
  • Distribute supplemental nourishments to residents who do not need to be fed, as directed.
  • Conduct informal activities on the nursing unit when time permits, as directed.
  • Supply fresh water in resident's rooms, as directed.
  • Prepare bed and bedwear of resident's at hour of sleep, as assigned.
  • Help keep general areas of the assigned nursing unit neat and orderly, as directed.
  • Clean resident's equipment (wheelchair/geri chair, bed, etc.), as assigned.
  • Keep the rooms of residents orderly, as assigned.
  • Notify therapist of any unusual incidents regarding residents.
