About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Coach supports the athletic program by recruiting and developing student-athletes, assisting with coaching and training, organizing practices, and promoting academic and athletic excellence. This role helps ensure student-athletes perform at a high level while maintaining strong academic performance and adhering to institutional and athletic conference regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Prior coaching or collegiate athletic experience preferred.
  • Experience working with student-athletes in an educational environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes
  • Organizational and event management skills
  • Knowledge of athletic training techniques and competitive strategies
  • Ability to support student-athletes’ academic and personal development
  • Strong commitment to ethical conduct and sportsmanship

Responsibilities

  • Recruit high-quality student-athletes to participate in the university’s athletic programs.
  • Support the academic success of student-athletes in both classroom and athletic environments.
  • Assist in developing training programs designed to maximize student-athletes’ performance and competitive success.
  • Monitor and evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Deliver effective coaching instruction, motivation, and mentorship to student-athletes.
  • Assist in designing and implementing practice plans, drills, and strategies for athletic events.
  • Promote student-athlete engagement within academic and social networks.
  • Supervise athletic events and ensure compliance with sportsmanship and safety standards.
  • Assist with game management during home events when not competing.
  • Organize and supervise community service activities involving student-athletes.
  • Supervise student-athletes during road trips and travel for competitions.
  • Schedule and coordinate non-conference athletic competitions.
  • Assist in planning and organizing events that enhance the student-athlete experience and support the athletic department.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and applicable athletic association regulations.
