About The Position

A Shower CNA is a specialized Certified Nursing Assistant responsible for the personal hygiene and bathing of residents in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility.  While the primary focus of this position is showering and bathing, the Shower CNA may also perform standard CNA duties as part of a resident's overall care plan.  This position requires compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of life for patients and supporting their recovery process.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of practice.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • The required skills for this role include strong communication abilities, which are essential for effectively interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to detail is critical, as you will need to accurately monitor and document patient conditions.
  • Compassion and empathy are vital in providing emotional support to patients, helping them feel valued and cared for.
  • Time management skills will enable you to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care or rehabilitation.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas of patient care, such as dementia care or palliative care.
  • Preferred skills, such as specialized training, can enhance your ability to address specific patient needs and improve overall care quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Provide full personal care after bathing such as hair care, nail care and dressing.
  • Help patients with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
  • Monitor residents for any changes in skin conditions and report to the supervising nurse.
  • Maintain a clean and safe patient environment by following infection control protocols and ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Accurately chart the care provided and any resident observations in the facility's electronic health records.
