About The Position
The Nephrology department at OSF HealthCare provides care for a diverse patient population, including individuals with chronic kidney conditions, those undergoing dialysis, Urology post-operative patients (such as prostatectomies and nephrectomies), and Kidney/Pancreas transplant recipients. The team prides itself on its collaborative teamwork, dedicated care for chronically ill patients, and strong patient advocacy. The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) is responsible for delivering safe, basic patient care, which encompasses taking vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, collecting specimens, and observing patients for any physical or emotional changes. Additional duties include documenting relevant information in patient charts, collaborating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuous care, and potentially providing constant patient supervision when necessary. Specific duties may be adjusted based on departmental expectations and needs.
Requirements
- CNA-Certified Nurses Assistant
- CPR American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma or GED Experience
- Six months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
- Six months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients
Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate safe basic care to patients
- Take vital signs
- Assist patients with activities of daily living

- Communicate with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care
- Function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed
