The Nephrology department at OSF HealthCare provides care for a diverse patient population, including individuals with chronic kidney conditions, those undergoing dialysis, Urology post-operative patients (such as prostatectomies and nephrectomies), and Kidney/Pancreas transplant recipients. The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) is responsible for delivering safe, basic patient care, which encompasses taking vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, collecting specimens, and observing patients for any physical or emotional changes. Additional duties include documenting relevant information in patient charts, collaborating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuous care, and potentially providing constant patient supervision when necessary.
