About The Position
JOB SUMMARY: Performs basic patient care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with activities of daily living and personal care assistance to patients. Monitors patients and collects information to be documented in the medical record. Perform bedside testing as necessary. Perform basic patient care. Maintain constant communication with nursing staff regarding patient conditions and changes in status. Maintain proper documentation in accordance with department and facility standards and requirements of regulatory bodies. Ensure delivery and assistance with patient food trays and other nourishment. Collect and deliver specimen to appropriate areas including laboratory, transport x-rays and other equipment as necessary. Perform basic clerical duties as required. Ensure cleanliness of unit, equipment and work area. Inventory and maintain supplies and equipment as needed. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: Basic nursing. AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security. RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Less than one year in an acute or long-term care setting preferred.
- Completion of a CNA training program.
- Current New Mexico Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required.
- Current BLS required.
