About The Position

The Clinical Instructor plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to train and mentor students to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Personal Care Assistant (PCA, Medication Aide (MA). This role involves developing and implementing educational programs, conducting hands-on training sessions, and evaluating the performance of students on skills learned.

Requirements

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
  • Hold a current, registered nurse license that is active and in good standing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year full time or 1500 hours of employment providing direct care as an RN in any setting OR; · Have a minimum of one of the following: Successful completion of a 3-semester credit course on adult teaching and learning concepts offered by an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
  • Completion of a 40-hour continuing education program in adult teaching and learning concepts that was awarded continuing education credit by an accredited organization.
  • One year of full-time or 1500 hours experience teaching adults as a faculty member or clinical educator.
  • One year of full-time or 1500 hours experience supervising nursing assistants, either in addition to or concurrent with the one year of experience required in section.
  • Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, prospects, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
  • Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Knowledge/proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and teach the course curriculum in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  • Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation and assessment of skills obtained.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
  • Deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles.
  • Work collaboratively with facility administrators and other staff members to integrate clinical instruction appropriately with the program.
  • Develop clinical training assignments and ensure completion and performance of such assignments.
  • Assist students with completion of Relias training.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
