About The Position

Assist in developing and leading Collegiate Ministries for Tennessee Baptists within the community of Knoxville, TN. Responsible for developing local campus ministry programs in cooperation with area Baptist associations and churches. Participate in the Harvest Field Ministry and contribute to completion of the Objectives of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. Conduct assigned ministry with “Christ-Like Servant Spirit,” guided by TBMB mission, priorities, strategies, and goals. Serve on a Harvest Field Team. Develop and lead appropriate local collegiate ministries that reach college students for Christ and His Church in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, missions, and ministry. Work with local associations and Collegiate Ministries Director in assessing the changing ministry needs of area colleges and universities. Provide support and assistance to the Collegiate Ministries Group and other groups within the organization, while building and maintaining positive working relationships.

Requirements

  • Four plus years of college
  • Skills in collegiate ministry leadership, ministry programming, and the arts.
  • Good understanding of Baptist polity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • in process or completed MDIV or MACE preferred.
  • Internship or full-time collegiate ministry experience in a secular university setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Ministry/Worship/and Teaching support on the local campus through planning and developing collegiate ministry programs, including those components of ministry that meet BCM criteria related to evangelism, discipleship, missions, and ministry, as directed by the Collegiate Ministry Specialist.
  • Assist UTK Collegiate Ministry Specialist with Administrative responsibilities in the areas of local campus programs in cooperation with TBMB and local associations, including budgeting, bookkeeping and local purchasing as directed.
  • Build positive relationship with area youth and students, local Pastors, student ministers, directors of missions, college and university administrators, and other Executive Board staff employees, toward the purpose of better ministering on campus and assisting local churches to develop collegiate ministry.
  • Assist UTK Collegiate Ministry Specialist with the daily operation, maintenance, and supervision of the UTK BCM campus facility to provide a safe environment for students.
  • Assist UTK Collegiate Ministry Specialists with supervision any Campus Missionaries, Program Assistants, or Resident Assistants.
  • Be available to work with local church pastors/staff in providing guidance and assistance in establishing their individual collegiate church ministry programs.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
