About The Position

IBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking engineers in the area of Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP). The hired candidate will have significant expertise and understanding of the fundamental principles in semiconductor processing and CMP. Some of the job responsibilities include maintaining and qualifying state of the art semiconductor 300mm process equipment and/or developing CMP processes from an early concept stage into a mature element that enables leading-edge technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 1 year of experience in semiconductor process equipment.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Good working proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Slack.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to details skills.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in operating and developing recipes on CMP tools.
  • Experience in semiconductor fab operations.
  • Experience in development of CMP processes.
  • Experience/knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and process flow.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the health of the equipment by collaborating with equipment vendor(s), fab operations, process, and management teams.
  • Use web based statistical process control charts (wSPC), SiView to collect the wafer history and related data, and web-based software to analyze the contamination, particle, and elemental data available from the wafers.
  • Assess the process window, formulate design of experiments (DOE's) and make continuous improvement to stabilize processes.
  • Work with semiconductor integration teams to develop new processes for advanced technologies.
  • Conduct constant industry research and stay up to date with the latest semiconductor equipment & process advancements.
  • Generate intellectual property (IP) for IBM and protect this IP through the patenting process.
