About The Position

Responsible for coordinating and performing general office functions and receptionist duties including greeting patients, typing correspondence, filing, answering phones and transmitting messages. Completes return phone calls to patients, physician offices, etc. Orders medical and office supplies as needed. Appropriately screens patient referrals from physician offices and schedules appointments. Completes tasks to ensure patient registration and precertification. Inputs orders and processes patient payments. Performs office charge entry. Assists in delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse or a physician/provider in clinic and procedural area. Assists with procedures within scope of training/certification, including but not limited to: positioning patient for kyphoplasty, stimulator placement and injections. Assists physician/provider in preparing exam room, equipment and patients for medical exam/procedures by taking medical history, vital signs and lab specimens. Administers medication both orally and by injection as prescribed by physician/provider. Reinforces proper medication and dosage requirements with the patient and/or patient’s family. Maintains a steady flow of patient volume into designated exam rooms to keep physician/provider and patient wait times to a minimum. Conducts patient phone calls post procedure for follow-up. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. Supports organizational and department goals and participates in organizational/departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee and business information. Completes on-going training and attends required educational programs. Performs other duties as required or assigned by Department Manager.

Requirements

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Current CMA (AAMA), NCMA or CCMA certification required.
  • BLS certification required or must be obtained with 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Previous physician office experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
  • Previous billing experience preferred.
