About The Position

The Club Manager is the leader of Bj’s Wholesale club. Responsible for directly leading the Assistant Club Manager of Member Experience, Assistant Club Manager of Merchandising, Assistant Club Manager of Perishables and Closing Manager—each of whom oversees their own perspective teams. Ensures consistent execution of policies and procedures, a positive member service experience, Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standard club conditions, and provides overall leadership and direction within the club. A key function of the Club Manager role is the ability to develop talent, display leadership, and deliver results consistently. The Club Manager leads audit compliance efforts, drives collaboration with Business Partners (BPs), and oversees onboarding, certification, and training to ensure food safety and operational excellence. This role also serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for the club as needed, taking full responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement during assigned shifts. A valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification is required and must be maintained in good standing. In Florida, this role must obtain a qualifier certification through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight. The qualifier certification exam must be taken online with video. BJ’s covers any applicable cost associated and training.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in retail, supermarket, or warehouse perishable operations required.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of shrink control, merchandising, customer service, and compliance.
  • Ability to analyze business data and drive performance results.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales and profitability targets.
  • Experience in managing inventory turnover and waste reduction strategies.
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Email) required.
  • Open shift availability required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must maintain all training and required certifications.

  • Develop and manage a strong leadership team: Directly oversees Assistant Club Manager of Member Experience, Assistant Club Manager of Merchandising, Assistant Club Manager of Perishables and Closing Manager—each of whom oversees their own perspective teams. Support hiring, training, development, and performance management of all direct reports.
  • Build talent and maintain a strong bench: Drive team member development by holding individuals accountable, having meaningful performance conversations, and delivering honest, actionable feedback to encourage professional growth.
  • Lead HR functions and labor execution: Oversee labor scheduling, compliance with labor models and standards, and manage team member relations to support operational efficiency and team engagement.

  • Maintain market awareness: Monitor local competition and retail trends to inform business strategy and ensure the club remains competitive and relevant.

  • Innovate to maximize profitability: Identify and implement new concepts, tools, or approaches to increase sales, productivity, and member satisfaction.
  • Promote team member and member engagement: Embrace and model the company’s values, creating a culture where team members are inspired and members receive an exceptional experience.
  • Achieve financial goals through effective club leadership: Meet planned profit objectives using strategic techniques, technology enhancements, and productivity improvements.
  • Deliver sales results through operational supervision: Attain planned sales volumes by providing strong leadership across the warehouse and collaborating closely with the Club Support Center (CSC).
  • Maintain a clear roadmap for performance: Track progress and lead execution against key performance indicators such as productivity (sales per hour), audit results, shrink, and turnover as outlined by the CSC.
  • Comply with all club policies and procedures: Maintain full adherence to operational standards, safety protocols, and corporate policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned: Provide additional support across departments as needed.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance: Demonstrate consistent presence to support operations, provide leadership coverage, and ensure smooth club execution.
