About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Fort Worth, Texas. Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking a Club Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting Department supporting Club Operations. The Club Accountant is an essential member of the Finance and Accounting team and is responsible for Member Club expenditures, reconciliations, and data keeping, but is not limited to all aspects of accounting at the Club. The Club Accountant will partner with the Club Controller, Club Operations Staff, and Site Leadership. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. Goals and Objectives Assist with the organization, coordination and implementation of office administration and member/guest communication and relations for the residents/members of the club. Provide Accounting and Administration support for the Club and its employees. Assist in creating and driving an unmatched luxury club experience in the Fort Worth area for members and guests. Work cohesively and effectively as one team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or University, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of accounting experience in the Hospitality, Private Club or restaurant industry or similar combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency in Sage-Intacct and POS related accounting software applications.
  • A positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and people skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, clearly speak, and understand English.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounting functions and management of processes and procedures for assigned job duties in the Club Operations.
  • Ensure financial operations of the Club are compliant with company expectations, processes, and controls.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the AP process from setting up new vendors, monitoring the Club AP email, providing invoices to Department Heads, and assisting with account coding, securing vendor W-9s, assure timely and accurate vendor payments and reconciliation of monthly vendor statements.
  • Answer all incoming vendor and member inquiries and resolve potential billing and payment discrepancies.
  • Process annual filing of 1099 forms; file annual form 1096.
  • Club cash management, including preparing check requests, funds transfers, distribution analysis, recording cash receipts, etc.
  • Setup of new club members into the POS system.
  • Issuance of monthly member statements including collection and processing of related AR billing payments.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge and competency of company systems, i.e., Intacct, TEI
  • Assist Accounting personnel with projects, as needed, including annual audits.
  • Resource for accounting and system processes and procedures.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and journal entries in accordance with monthly reporting.
  • Work to improve current processes and spreadsheets.
